K. Pattabhi Jois was the originator who introduced Ashtanga Yoga a special form that is also widely recognized as the Eight Limb Yoga which believes that the pathway of purification lies in eight spiritual exercises. The Pranayama, Yama, Asana and Niyama are the initial four limbs that cleanse the external part while Dhyana, Pratyahara and Dharana are the internal exercises which should be applied in an appropriate manner.

When practicing the Eight Limb yoga along with the necessary sub limbs for external exercises like Yama and Niyama the body has to be really strong so that it is capable of performing the training. If the mind is not working properly and the body is found to be weak then performing the exercises would not be beneficial at all to the individual.

The core philosophy that surrounds K.Pattabhi Jois’s theory is that after completing Ashtanga yoga the person must preserve in their mind that the body will definitely get better in strength and health as well.

Ashtanga Yoga is also associated with Vinsaya a style that is popular for internal cleansing by means of breathing and movements. Sweat plays a vital role whereby the body tends to get warm and sends out the contamination out of the body by means of sweat. Ashtanga Yoga has mainly three yoga poses that are mainly used to build up strength and enhance health in the human body which fall in different levels: • Primary Series the initial level that intends on bringing the body in line and at the same time getting rid of toxic substances.

• Intermediate Series which plays the role of opening and clearing out the vigor canals that assists in the purification process of the nervous system in the body.

• Advanced Series deals with the grace and strength of the body.

Tristhana, another style is made up of posture breathing technique and Dristhi.

This technique needs a person to hold their pose and their breath for a long time resulting in increase in fire internally and strengthening of the nervous system. It is also vital that they make a single breath for each movement.

Tristhana and Ashtanga are part of Dristhi, where people need to focus or be attentive when carrying out Asana that helps in keeping the mind clear and purified. So it has been found that clearing the mind and cleansing it can only be achieved by Eight-Limb Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga.
